What is "LUCIE" ?

LUCIE is a simple, flexible and pragmatic approach to help implement Social Responsibility (CSR) in any organization. It is also a communication tool and a community !

COMMITMENT 1 : ORGANIZATIONAL GOVERNANCE

PA 1 : Integrate CSR approaches into the overall strategy

  • Incorporate the social responsibility strategy into the overall strategy
  • Endorse this holistic approach giving meaning to the economic model
  • Promote and enforce reflections on professional ethics
  • Promote dialogue with all stakeholders

PA 2 : Ensure responsible governance

  • Set up operations that are participatory, fair and sustainable
  • Promote diversity and representativeness
  • Ensure effective risk management (financial, social, reputational risks)

COMMITMENT 2 : HUMAN RIGHTS

PA 3 : Respect dignity and fundamental human rights

  • Apply human rights compliance into all organizational activities
  • Prevent harassment (manipulation, pressure, excessive sacrifices, extreme competition, physical harassment, sexual harassment, violence, etc.)
  • Take measures against illegal labor

PA 4 : Prevent all forms of discrimination and promote diversity and equal opportunities

  • Ensure the relevance of the fields covered by the dialogue and workers' representatives information
  • Take into consideration all proposals submitted by staff members

  • Raise awareness among the workers on health and safety issues

PA 10 : Ensure skills and career development

  • Train all workers, perform analysis of training needs
  • Ensure staff skills development and career management

PA 11 : Establish a fair and transparent remuneration system

  • Ensure the objectivity and fairness of the information regarding incomes (fix, variable, bonuses, pay rises)
  • Ensure a remuneration adapted to living standards and with regard to the ratio between the highest and the lowest salary

COMMITMENT 4 : ENVIRONMENT

PA 12 : Eco- design products, activities and services

  • Take into account environmental impacts in all strategic decisions and in the design of your activities, products and services
  • Use life cycle analysis
  • Develop an approach of circular economy

PA 13 : Reduce the use of natural resources

  • Identify the consumption (of all types) of resources
  • Reduce consumption
  • Inform / raise awareness to reduce the consumption of resources

PA 14 : Reduce pollution and nuisances

  • Identify and measure all forms of pollution and nuisance linked to direct or indirect activities of the organization
  • Reduce/valorise waste, specifically municipal waste
  • Implement a transportation plan

PA 15 : Deploy a structured approach to environmental protection

  • Comply with all regulations in place
  • Implement and deploy an Environmental Management System (EMS)
  • Establish a budget dedicated to environmental management
  • Train and raise awareness among employees
  • Deploy a reporting and environmental performance analysis system
  • Conduct regular audits

COMMITMENT 5 : FAIR OPERATING PRACTICES

PA 16 : Prevent any kind of corruption (active or passive)

  • Establish systematic procedures against corruption risks (denunciation, sanctions)
  • Define rules related to gifts and benefits collaborators are allowed to accept
  • Demonstrate integrity and transparency

PA 17 : Ensure fair conditions of competition

  • Guarantee a fair competition
  • Respect property rights
  • In the public sphere, intervene in a fair and responsible manner

PA 18 : Promote social responsibility among suppliers and subcontractors

  • Include social and environmental criteria in procurement and contracts policies and practices
  • Support suppliers and subcontractors in their social responsibility approach
  • Establish a system for monitoring suppliers and subcontractors compliance with the Social Responsibility criteria

PA 19 : Build long term sustainable supplier relationships

  • Ensure equal treatment to all suppliers
  • Ensure contract compliance (payment deadlines) and form a win-win relationship
  • Check the dependency rate of suppliers and monitor cash flow requirements

COMMITMENT 6 : CUSTOMERS' INTERESTS

PA 20 : Promote fair marketing practices

  • Ensure pre-sale information is accurate, clear and accessible through terms of contract, risks, etc.
  • Develop a honest communication and a matching product
  • Aim for a responsible product and promote their characteristics

PA 21 : Protect consumers' health and safety

  • Indicate the types of risks existing throughout the product lifecycle
  • Have a complete approach on risk management, more specifically those linked to the health and safety of consumers
  • Inform about the residual risks and precautionary measures needed for the products or services

PA 22 : Offer a product / service compliant with company's quality commitments and contractual clauses

  • Respect the contractual clauses and quality commitments
  • Undertake an analysis of the customer satisfaction
  • Deploy an after-sale service policy

PA 23 : Promote access to essential goods and services

  • Ensure disadvantaged people can get access to the product / service
  • Adapt the offer to the genuine and current main needs of the territory and its inhabitants
  • Identify, rally and establish partnerships with local economic actors

COMMITMENT 7 : COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

PA 24 : Contribute to the socio-economic development of the local communities

  • Contribute to the employment and skills development of the local area
  • Implement or develop social inclusion initiatives for priority target groups
  • Promote investments and purchasing power in the local economy

PA 25 : Participate in initiatives of general interest (solidarity, health, environment)

  • Contribute voluntarily to partnerships or sponsorships actions, etc.
  • Set up processes to select and implement projects
  • Carry out an analysis of the results of those actions
